Content repurposing machine: Generate 10x more content in minutesCopy
Stop creating content from scratch for every platform. This workflow turns a single piece of your nonprofit’s content (like a report, blog post, or even a simple idea) into a multi-channel campaign, through an interactive conversation with your AI co-pilot.
This system first acts as your creative strategist, generating a custom menu of repurposing ideas. You then choose the exact content you need, and the AI drafts each piece for you one by one, waiting for your feedback before moving to the next.
Benefits
- Multiply your output, not your effort: Create a week’s worth of content from a single source in a fraction of the time.
- Reach your entire ecosystem: Get tailored ideas for every key audience: donors, staff, board members, beneficiaries, and policymakers.
- Unlock hidden value: Discover fresh angles and compelling hooks within your existing content that you may have missed.
Resources
⏰ Time
- Between 10 and 60 minutes (depending on how many pieces you want to create).
👤 People
- One person who understands your content and communications goals.
🛠️ Tools
- ChatGPT (the latest reasoning models are recommended for more advanced and strategic thinking).
📂 Internal data
- A “Source Content” piece: For example, it can be a report, blog post, case study, event transcript, or a detailed outline of a new idea.
- Your organization’s brand voice guidelines.
ℹ️ Note
Better Source, Better Results. The quality of your repurposed content depends on the quality of your source material. For best results, ensure your “Source Content” is well-structured, detailed, and clearly written. If you start with a vague idea, the AI’s output will also be vague.
The Two-Step Workflow: Strategy + Creation
This process is designed to be simple and interactive. Step 1 gives you a strategic menu of options. In Step 2, you tell the AI what you want from that menu and it builds everything for you, piece by piece.
STEP 1: The Strategy & Content Menu Generator
This is your foundational step. The AI will analyze your source material and generate an actionable menu of potential angles and all the content types that would work well for each.
Start a new AI conversation for your campaign.
Act as a world-class communications strategist for nonprofit organizations. Your goal is to analyze a piece of source content and generate a comprehensive "Content Repurposing Menu" with at least 3 creative angles and all the content formats that you recommend to reach the relevant stakeholders (considering all the DATA mentioned below).
# DATA:
## Brand Voice:
**PASTE your brand voice description here. Example: "Our tone is hopeful, authoritative, and community-focused. We use clear, simple language and avoid jargon. We aim to inspire action, not guilt."**
## Primary Goal & Audience:
**State the main objective. Example: "To raise awareness about our new research findings among policymakers and donors."**
## Source Content:
**PASTE the full text of your blog post, report summary, or detailed idea here**
## Constraints (optional):
**You can mention here if you have limited budget or resources, deadlines, legal requirements, platforms/words/angles that you don't want to use, etc.**
## Organization Info (optional):
**You can write/paste here relevant context about your organization, include relevant links or upload files that could help AI "understand" your organization and customize the recommendations accordingly.**
# REQUEST:
Analyze the source content and generate a "Content Repurposing Menu". For each potential angle you identify, provide:
1. A clear name for the Angle (e.g., "The Surprising Statistic").
2. Short "Description" and benefits for that Angle
2. The best "Target Audience/s" for that Angle (could be only one or many).
3.A list of "Recommended Content Types" that are a strong match for that Angle and its Target Audiences.
To build your recommendations, consider this list of nonprofit content types, and feel free to suggest others if they are a strong fit:
Public Marketing
- Social media posts (X/Threads/Bluesky, LinkedIn, Instagram)
- Newsletter/s
- Blog post/s
- Short-form video (Instagram Reel/TikTok)
- Long video video (Youtube)
- Podcast or other audio formats
- SMS/WhatsApp message/s
Advocacy & PR
- Advocacy action alert
- Policy brief summary
- Press release hook
- Social media toolkit for activists
Community Engagement
- Printable flyer/one-pager text
- New content for our community FAQ / Knowledge Base
Stakeholder Relations
- Emails for specific audiences (donors, partners, board, volunteers, funders, etc.)
- Section for the annual report (and/or other reports)
Internal Comms
- Team memo/summary for Slack/email
- New content for our internal FAQ / Knowledge Base
# OUTPUT:
Present the output as a easy-to-read menu that I can use to make selections for the next step.
If the AI’s first set of angles or content pieces doesn’t feel right, just ask for a different set. You can be specific in your follow-up command, like: “That’s a good start, but can you generate three more angles that focus specifically on the emotional and human-interest side of this story?”
💡 Pro tip
Customize your content menu: Before you run the prompt, consider editing the list of content types to match your nonprofit’s reality. Add your own specific formats (e.g., “A script for our monthly YouTube update for donors”) or remove channels you never use. The more tailored the list, the more relevant the AI’s suggestions will be.
STEP 2: The Interactive Content Generator
Now, review the menu the AI created. Choose the angle you want to focus on and select the specific content pieces you want the AI to create. You will then paste your selections into the prompt below to begin the interactive creation process.
ℹ️ Note
You can use more than one of the proposed angles, but it’s better to focus the conversation on one at a time (and start with other angle when you finished with the first one). Otherwise the conversation can get too complex or disorganized.
Continue in the same conversation.
OK, now act as my expert content creator. I have reviewed the menu and made my selections. Your task is to generate the content pieces I've listed below.
The process will be interactive:
1. You will generate the first item on my list.
2. I will review it and may ask for revisions.
3. Once I am satisfied, I will say "next" or "continue."
4. You will then generate the next item on the list.
5. Continue this process until the list is complete.
Generate only 1 content piece per response (with the only exception of very short pieces, such as tweets, where you can group several in one response). For every piece, ensure it is perfectly aligned with our brand voice and the selected angle.
Include also prompts, scripts and/or recommendations to generate the visuals (images and videos) that are relevant for the recommend content types. For each visual, consider if it would be better to use AI tools (to generate those visuals from scratch with tools like Midjourney, Sora, Synthesia, etc.) or traditional tools (e.g. manual design with Canva/Adobe, buy stock photos or other solutions).
Consider the specific features and restrictions of each platform (character limits, content formats, image formats, main audiences, etc.) when creating content for them.
# MY SELECTIONS:
## Selected Angle:
**Copy and paste the Angle Name from the menu (e.g., "The Human Story Angle")**
## Content to Create:
**Copy and paste the list of Content Types you want from the menu**
Let's begin. Please generate the first item on the list.💡 Pro tip
Be a clear director: During the interactive step, your feedback is key. Instead of just saying “make it better,” give specific commands that guide the AI toward the desired outcome. For example: “Make the tone more urgent and add a deadline”, “add a question at the end to encourage comments” or “rewrite the last paragraph to include this specific statistic: XXX”.
Recommendations
- Ask for collaboration: Ask everyone in your organization to search for good content that could be repurposed and published. You probably have a lot of internal content with potential that is not being used. Maybe create a shared folder where they can add all those documents, texts, emails, etc.
- Save your menu: The menu generated in Step 1 is a valuable asset. Save it! You can come back to it later to create new content from different angles you didn’t use the first time (or reuse the same angles & content types for different source contents).
- Update and improve the system: Social media sites and other platforms are constantly launching new features, content types, restrictions, etc. Also, angles or formats that worked great a few months ago might be “dead” now (due to new social trends, platform algorithms, etc.). Probably ChatGPT (or the AI tool that you are using) don’t know about all the new “changes”. So it’s a good idea to mention the most relevant changes in the prompts, especially if you are having issues with the generated content. You can open a different conversation to research new changes and trends (maybe with an AI tool optimized for research like Perplexity or ChatGPT Deep Research).
- Consider automation: For recurring tasks like repurposing your monthly blog post, you can automate this process. For example, you can use Zapier and create a “Zap” that triggers when a new post is published on your website (via an RSS feed). Then you can send it to an AI API (e.g. ChatGPT integration) to do the whole process automatically (you would need to modify the prompts to create all your desired content pieces without having your manual input).
- Don’t skip the human touch: Use the AI-generated text as a strong first draft. Always review and edit it to add your unique human insight, ensure factual accuracy, and perfect the tone before publishing.
- Track performance of repurposed content to refine your pipeline. For example, if a certain angle or type of content gets much more engagement and/or conversions, prioritize it. If you are not sure of which KPIs/metrics to use or how to track them, you can ask AI for help (provide all the relevant context and use the most advanced reasoning models for this important task).
